Elements Select+

EPLAN Functionalities that increase the value of your EPLAN License

EPLAN Elements+

What is EPLAN Elements Select+
Elements are bundles of modules that provide additional features for your regular EPLAN package. EPLAN Elements Select+ includes the following modules:

  • Single-line Diagram
  • Net Based Wiring
  • PLC & Bus Extension

Why Use Elements Select+
Each new module enhances the value on your EPLAN license giving you access to proven features that can help you lower your costs, save time, and increase your overall efficiency.

The single-line representation of schematics is used to provide clear documentation of the electrical configuration of machines and plants, Net-based connections enable a schematic to be created without having to define immediately how the connections are arranged and EPLAN supports you in planning and managing PLC control systems and bus systems.

Single Line Diagram vs Multi Line Schematics

The single-line representation of schematics is used to provide clear documentation of the electrical configuration of machines and plants. In contrast to multi-line representation, which shows all component connection points and the total number of connections of cable connections, single-line representation shows greatly simplified components with one, or a maximum of two, connections and cable connections with a single line.

Single-line components can be inserted into single-line and multi-line schematic pages. Depending on the page type where a function created in the device navigator is placed, the representation type of the function is automatically adjusted to suit the page type. This means that the function is placed as a single-line symbol on a single-line schematic page and as a multi-line symbol on a multi-line schematic page.

Net-Based Wiring Connections

Net-based connections enable a schematic to be created without having to define immediately how the connections are arranged. This means that nets containing a large number of connections can be defined within a project. The connection sequence within a net will not be determined by the connection symbols in the schematic but must be defined later in the property dialog for the relevant net definition point.

If you have a "Net Based Wiring" license, the Specify targets check box will be displayed in the property dialog of connection symbols with branching options (T-nodes, jumpers, double junctions). If this check box is deactivated, the target order for the relevant connection symbol will not be evaluated and the connection symbol will be shown as a point. In this case the connections are not automatically generated and must be specified manually.

PLC & Bus Extension

The module EPLAN PLC & Bus Extension supports the user in managing PLC controllers and bus systems. The PLC information in a project can be displayed and edited in a dialog.

The module provides a navigator for the bus configuration, adding a central overview of all the PLC / BUS components of a project and their interconnection. This makes it easy to recognize where each BUS line an automation component belongs to, straight from the tree display.

PLC Data Exchange

Various exchange formats are available for the exchange of PLC configuration files with external PLC configuration programs.

You can plan the assignment of the PLC card to the rack slot / module in the same way as the bus cable and the type of station of the node model number. The PLC navigator shows which racks and PLC cards are used to form the network structure in the hardware.

Automatically Generating Schematics from PLC Data

PLC functions can be imported from a PLC configuration file or created in the PLC navigator. Assignment lists and hardware configurations from the PLC configuration programs of the manufacturers are used as source data. EPLAN Electric P8 allows automatic placement of PLC functions and thus allows the generation of PLC schematics including overview pages at the click of a button.

This allows PLC configurations to be created using special PLC configuration programs which can then be imported into EPLAN Electric P8 and used to gen-erate a schematic automatically. Schematics, PLC overviews, and hardware structures are automatically generated as target data.

PLC Reports

  • PLC diagram
PLC connection points of the PLC card. A diagram for each PLC card.
  • PLC card overview
The PLC card overview represents the physical cards of the PLC, which are detailed in the distributed schematic view by the individual PLC boxes. It graphically displays which inputs / outputs are occupied and which are available, which function these perform, and on which sche-matic page they are displayed. This type of overview can contain a differ-ent number of inputs and outputs, depending on the manufacturer and type.
